Lead vs. Backing Vocals
There may be some confusion about what specifically is considered backing vocals and how the service handles tracks with multiple leads, so let's make it clear before we move on to the step-by-step guide.
Lead vocals are the main vocal parts of a song, typically sung by the primary artist. They carry the melody and often convey the song's emotional core. In contrast, backing vocals support the lead by harmonizing or reinforcing the melody. They can enhance the overall sound, adding depth and richness to the music.
Backing vocals can be identified by their role in the mix. They often sing the same melodies as the lead but may also provide harmonies or echo certain phrases. You might notice them in the background, complementing the lead vocals without overshadowing them.
Types of Vocals Extracted by LALAL.AI
LALAL.AI Lead & Back Vocal Splitter excels at isolating clearly defined lead and backing vocals. The performance may be less satisfactory for songs that lack clear vocal separation, such as tracks with synthesized vocal-like sounds instead of actual human vocals. In these cases, the distinction between lead and backing vocals may not be as pronounced, which can affect the quality of the extraction.
If the your track features multiple leads with backing vocals, the Lead Vocal stem will contain all leads, and the Back Vocal stem will have the backing vocals. In case a song doesn't feature any backing vocals, the Back Vocal stem will be empty.
